Retirement

After 27 years of honorable service, Grandpa Bear has retired from duty. We are so very proud of him and his years of dedication to his work. We hope that he enjoys his retirement and maybe he'll be able to come visit Cub Central a little more often now (hint hint). We love you Grandpa Bear!!

Retirement....times two

It seems like everything happens in pairs here...Grandma Bear also chose to hang up her stethoscope. Her last day with the school district was December 18th. We know she'll miss her school kids but we are looking forward to seeing her more often. Happy retirement, Grandma Bear. We love you!!

White Christmas

Snow began falling blowing in on Christmas Eve.:

Christmas morning.:

Christmas interrupted

So our Christmas plans were rudely interrupted by Mother Nature. Grandma and Grandpa Bear were supposed to come to Cub Central on Christmas Eve, but due to a BLIZZARD (no, your eyes are not deceiving you), they were snowed in at home. The interstate between their house and ours was closed and travel was impossible. We even received a few inches of snow here. I believe it was reported to be the first white Christmas in 80 years. So we are now scheduling a 2nd Christmas this weekend with Grandma and Grandpa Bear. We are expecting MORE snow (UGH!!) today so it had better clear out by Friday. Or else!

On a side note, the cubs had an awesome 1st Christmas. They had a blast opening up all of their gifts. Such lucky little cubs!! Pictures coming soon (hopefully).

Pictures that I have missed posting

Dear Reading Public,

I have a folder on my desktop that I put pictures in that I want to post. For some reason there are several really cute pictures in there that I have overlooked posting on the blog, so here they are. I apologize for not sharing these sooner!!

Sincerely,
The Slacker

CHEERLEADERS
Even these ADORABLE cheerleaders couldn't bring the Seahawks a winning season. Sorry guys! But your cheerleaders sure are CUTE!! (9/20/09)

FUTURE CHEFS
During Grandma Shirley and Grandpa John's visit in September they bought the cubs a really cool kitchen. It has all the necessities and even an indoor grill. What more could anyone want?? It has great sound effects and the cubs play with it constantly. (10/3/09)

PDA (Pretty Darn Adorable)
Who could possibly resist these faces????

WE HAVE OUR VERY OWN DOORMAN DOORCUB
Emily, kindly opening the door for me as I was leaving.:

Apparently I wasn't moving fast enough, as she then started pointing at the car. I FEEL the love. Don't let the door hit you in the...well, you know.

TWINS
Sometimes it's funny how alike twins are.:

KITCHEN HELP
The cubs' kitchen is really helping to pay off in the big kitchen too. Mom loves having help putting the dishes away.

HOME IMPROVEMENT
Ladder discovery.:

All the way to the top. Monkeys.

BAD DOG
Not sure why, but Emily felt it was necessary to put Husky in time-out. BAD dog.

Catching up on the pool progress

Here is a picture taken on 12/9 (I'm a little LOT behind). The rebar for the decking was installed and the aggregate was poured the following Saturday. We are now ready for the plaster but have been delayed because of the weather.

That's my girl!

Here's proof...Emily is definitely her mother's daughter. Mint chocolate chip ROCKS!!!! (P.S. We also like chocolate chip cookie dough...YUMMY!!)

Post Christmas party

Of course, any activity that involves numerous children, chilly weather, and a bounce house will promptly be followed by runny noses and sick cubs. I think everyone caught some type of bug this time around, but Mom was the only one who came down with a fever. Thank goodness we are all on the road to recovery. We still have a few lingering side effects, but I think we will be good to go for Santa's big arrival.

They are even cute when they're sick. Both cubs on the couch with their pillows, blankies, and beloved stuffed animals.:

Christmas Party

My multiples group had a Christmas party on Saturday, December 12. I couldn't believe it when Steve told me that he had the day off, so the four of us went to a group function together. A very rare occurrence. The cubs did pretty well. They weren't too keen on Santa, did pretty well cleaning up their chicken nuggets, and then they had a blast in the bounce house.

Z checking out the tree.:

Emily checking out the tree. Monkey see, monkey do.:

The only picture of Emily with Santa (or rather, Santa in the same photo with Emily).

Cute cubs.:

Zach and Dad at the arts and crafts table.:

This is the closest Zach would get to Santa. Maybe we'll have better luck next year.:

Hands down, the bounce house was their favorite activity. It ROCKED!! We had to drag the cubs out later.:

First Annual Christmas Parade

December 5th was the town's first annual Christmas Parade and Tree Lighting. Just our luck, it was freezing, but we decided to bundle up the cubs and go anyway. They did really well considering the temperature, crowd, lights and noise. Not to mention that it was quickly nearing their bedtime. We left just minutes before the tree lighting, but we were able to view it from the parking lot. We're looking forward to making this an annual tradition.

Cute (and chilly) little cubs

It sure felt like the North Pole....

Emily and Zach both waved at Santa. SO cute!
